Frequently Asked Questions

What is Counseling?

Counseling is a way to address emotional, psychological or relationship concerns you or your family may be having. Generally, counselors meet with clients once a week for 50 minutes to work toward resolving difficulties and achieving goals that clients and counselors have developed together. Individuals may be seen alone or with significant others in couples or family counseling.

How Do I Become a Client?

Individuals may request an intake session via our website.  Intakes are processed on a first-come, first-served basis according to availability.  The more availability you enter, the sooner your intake will be scheduled.   A $20 intake fee will be charged for your intake.  Your ongoing session fee will be set during your intake.

If you are seeking counseling for couples, families and/or children, all participants must be present at the initial intake.  The intake is free; your ongoing session fee will be set during your intake.

How Much Does Counseling Cost?

Counseling services are provided on a sliding scale basis, which means that we look at your household income and your financial resources and establish a fee according to a set schedule of fees that seeks to make counseling affordable for most people.

Do You Accept Medi-Cal?

No, the Counseling Center does not accept insurance or government funding. However, our fees are set according to a sliding scale so they can be affordable.
