Learning Goals:

  • Participants will identify the specific ethical mandates related to continuity of care and the necessity of a Professional Will in the event of a clinician’s death or sudden incapacitation
  • Participants will list at least five essential components that must be included in a comprehensive Professional Will
  • Participants will develop a personalized action plan for selecting, approaching, and legally designating a qualified “Professional Executor” (and a backup), including the steps for maintaining and securely storing the will over time


Curt Widhalm, LMFT is the owner of Real Honest Therapy in Encino and West Los Angeles that specializes in working with teenagers and provides EMDR and comprehensive DBT. He is the Chair of the CAMFT Ethics Committee and a former lecturer at California State University Northridge where he

taught Law & Ethics in the MFT program. Curt is also the co-host of “The Modern Therapist’s Survival Guide” podcast.
